MacArthur Trust Scholarship

Scholarship Details

The MacArthur Trust Scholarship exists to enable the finest candidates to receive a premier theological education without being encumbered by student debt. Its goal is to enhance the learning experience of students by allowing them to focus more intently on their studies and ministry involvement by minimizing their need to raise funds for tuition costs.

The MacArthur Scholarship is a Full Tuition scholarship. The scholarship does not cover any fees that are associated with attending TMS. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship at TMS besides the Full-time residential scholarship.


Students must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be a new incoming student to the Master's Seminary in the M.Div. or B.Th. program
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (renewal based on GPA).
  • Character qualification in agreement with 1 Timothy 3:1-13.
  • Ministry involvement in a local church.
  • Affirm the TMS doctrinal statement.
  • Enrolled full-time with a minimum of 11 units with the majority of class on-campus (not online)at the main LA campus of TMS . Only 48 units in Spanish classes are allowed for Hybrid Spanish MDiv students. 11 minimum has no exception even in the final semester. 98 units total will be cover, repeat passed classes or additional classes pass elective allowance will not be covered.  
  • Must make significant progress to complete the degree in 4 years from the student's first semester of enrollment.
  • Must take a majority of classes each semester on-campus
  • Must Complete the Financial Aid Application

  1. Proven Character – How do you assess your proven character according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7? (Do not explain the passage but assess your character)

  2. Ministry Involvement – Explain your involvement in the local church, detailing your ministry experience.

  3. Potential Impact – Explain how you hope to utilize your training upon graduation, detailing your long-term aspirations.

  4. Personal Assessment – Explain why you think you are a good candidate for the MacArthur Trust Scholarship.
